What are dogs?
Dogs are mammals, because they get milk from their mothers at first and they do not lay eggs (except the platapus). They are also cousin to wolves. Most dogs live in a house with humans. A mother dog has a litter of puppies. At first they can't see. Puppies must stay with their mother for eight weeks then you may take them home with you. At first some dogs are as big as a cat and wiegh about the same as a bag of sugar. Soon they grow and can wiegh more than a bike!
What Dogs Need
In many ways dogs are like us. They need a warm bed, food, water, sleep, love, affection and shelter. Most dogs need to be walked once a week. Keeping you dog fit is very inportant. Some dogs need owners if they got badly injured. If you find a dog turn him in to an animal shelter. Make sure your puppy fits into the family. Never reward a dog for being bad. If you reward them when they do not do the right thing, they will think they are doing the right thing, which it is not. You must make them know what is right and what is wrong.
